Big Bang Theory actor accidentally ‘totally exposed’ herself in front of crew on set of show

Melissa Rauch might have seemed like all sweetness and light while starring as Bernadette Rostenkowski in The Big Bang Theory, but it seems she might have actually been one of the boldest cast members on set.

If her stories from behind-the-scenes are anything to go by, it sounds like the 44-year-old from New Jersey got herself into some seriously sticky situations while filming the hit sitcom.

We’ve heard about the embarrassing ‘masturbation’ moment she had during her first ever day on set in 2009, but have you heard about how she ‘totally exposed’ herself that one time, too?

Rauch isn’t some kind of nudist or a gal who likes to get frisky with an audience, though – as she insists both incidents have been a complete misunderstanding. Yeah, yeah.

The True Blood star spilled the hilarious story about showing far too much skin in front of some members of the crew while appearing at the pop-culture event PaleyFest back in 2014 alongside her co-stars.

In the fifth episode of the sixth season of The Big Bang Theory, which is titled ‘The Holographic Excitation’, long-time fans might remember how the gang are all getting kitted out in Halloween costumes.

Bernadette and her other half Howard, played by Simon Helberg, both end up transforming themselves into Smurfs.

The couple spend three hours daubing themselves in blue paint from head to toe, with Bernadette joking that she will be washing the stuff out of her ‘smurf’ for a month.

And it turns out this line in the script really did ring true for the actress, as sadly for Rauch, that blue paint ended up in places where the sun doesn’t shine.

During The Big Bang Theory panel at PaleyFest, she was asked about the colourful makeup and went on to reveal a mortifying mishap she had in her dressing room – after Helberg kindly reminded her of it in front of the crowd.

“I’m still wiping it off! I’m still finding it in places,” Rauch said of the paint, before her on-screen partner described the ‘ordeal’ they faced getting it all put on and taken off.

“We both had to sit next to each other and there’s just a point where you just start to like go into kind of a meditative state,” the comedian, 43, said.

“You’re just sitting there, it’s like hour two, and it’s just a guy just rubbing as hard as you can and you’re already blue, and you don’t know how much bluer you can get – but they’re convinced it’s going to be another hour and a half of blueness.

“And then they had to take it off and I was sitting next to Melissa. I finished first, but then you later realised something horrible…”

Rauch then revealed that it got ‘late into the night’ and the team were still removing blue paint from her body.

“I have really sensitive skin so they’re like packing me with hot towels and I’m starting to fall asleep,” she said. “It’s two dudes and then my regular makeup artist – who went out of the trailer to to get some more hot towels.

“And I’m in a bodysuit underneath this dress and they were like, ‘Could you just lift up your legs to get the rest of the makeup out from under your legs?’

“So I lift my legs up and close my eyes, and I hear one of the guys go, ‘Huh’. And I just thought oh they’re they’re just telling jokes back and forth to each other. Then I look in the mirror, and I was like, ‘What’s that? What is that?’

“Then I was like, ‘Dear Lord Jesus, that is my business’. I had totally exposed myself.”

Nightmare way to wrap up the day, if I do say so myself.

Hilariously, Rauch then explained how she recovered from the embarrassing moment, adding: “Then I put my legs down and then just looked at them and said, ‘Long night’. That is, that’s the tale of my Smurfette.”
