Coronation Street legend Ken Barlow is set to become a dad again, according to fans, as they have ‘worked out’ a shock pregnancy twist
Coronation Street fans reckon Ken Barlow is set to become a dad again. The soap legend (William Roache) suffered a nasty fall earlier this year, which resulted in him needing a carer for his injuries. The cost of a professional carer proved too steep for the Barlow family, so they recruited Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) despite lacking formal qualifications.
Since then, Ken and Cassie have become good pals, with Ken taking a shine to her. Ken also confided in Cassie about his £50,000 premium bond win – something she secretly found out prior. Cassie then persuaded Ken to spend the cash on a holiday, and he invited her along – much to her delight.
This week though, Ken told his family that he couldn’t afford to keep Cassie on. He later informed Cassie of his decision and she put on a brave face – but it was clear she was furious. However, things soon took a harrowing turn.

At the end of the episode, Cassie was seen spiking Ken’s tea with crushed tablets before handing him the cup and watching him drink from it. She also gave him his medication and took the tablet unaware of what Cassie had done.
What’s more, in Wednesday’s episode (November 20) Ken was rushed to hospital and later asked Cassie if she wanted her job back – even giving her an extra pound per hour. But now, in what would be a shock twist, soap fans are convinced Cassie and Ken might have slept together on their holiday – with Cassie now pregnant.
One person mused on X: “Is Cassie pregnant?” Someone else wrote. “She could be, she’s up to no good.” A third penned: “Did Ken show Cassie that he’s still got it when they were in Porto?”
Claire recently opened up on her character Cassie’s shocking behaviour and how she fears the public backlash to her character trying to poison a “national treasure”. Talking about hearing about the storyline for the first time, the TV star admitted: “I was shocked, it’s Ken Barlow, he’s a national treasure.
“I’m going to be Public Enemy No 1! I think viewers are going to hate her. The funny thing is that they’ve just started to like her – they were finally warming to her – and then this happens. In my head, playing her, I’m trying to find saving graces, but I don’t know if there will be any.
“I’m a Corrie fan and I’d be fuming watching this. Already in the summer when I went on holiday to Majorca all the old dears were saying to me: ‘You leave Ken alone’, ‘Don’t you be upsetting Ken now.’ And that was before I’d done anything!”
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
