Celtic’s start to the campaign under Brendan Rodgers has evoked sentiment from some that another Invincible-style season could be a possibility if they continue their recent momentum.
While the vast majority of supporters would urge caution to the wind, mentions of the historic achievement in 2016/17 have been floated among media circles.
Citing the Bhoys’ strength-in-depth across the squad, Tam McManus believes Celtic will go unbeaten this season in the Scottish Premiership as their power will be too much for others to handle.
Regardless, you only need to take one look at the standings to show why complacency should never be an option at Parkhead.

Despite ten wins and a solitary draw, there is a long way to go before comparisons with the Invincibles are a viable topic of conversation. Now, Craig Gordon has touched on facing his old club and where they rank in his estimation ahead of Hearts against Celtic on Saturday evening.

Expected to start this weekend, Gordon was a key pillar of the Invincibles and has expanded on his side’s clash against the Bhoys and where the current Celtic crop ranks compared to the outfit that conquered all in Rodgers’ first tenure.
He told Sky Sports, firstly referencing the challenge ahead: “It’s a great game. We don’t get to play many night games; a Saturday night game is unusual, so it’s going to be a great atmosphere, and the fans are going to pack the place out.
“I’m really looking forward to it; off the back of the international break, the fans will be ready to get going again, the players have had a little bit of time off, and we’re ready to go; it’s an exciting game for us.”

Later, he added on how Hearts will approach the Celtic clash: “It’s difficult (creating chances against Celtic), but that’s what you have to try and do. We’ll have to try and impose ourselves on the game and still carry a threat going forward. Everybody knows the quality they have, so it’s about trying to deal with that but being an attacking team and going for goals as well.”
Finishing up, he responded to a question asking whether this current Celtic team is better than the Invincible team he played in, stating: “It’s not as good! (with a wry smile), no, it’s a very good team. The quality that they have, the amount of goals that they’ve been scoring, the form that they’ve been in, not just in Scotland but in Europe as well, has been very impressive.
“We’ll need to be at our very best, it’s difficult always to compare different teams, but certainly there a very strong team at the moment and we’ll need to be very good to get something from the game.”
Celtic will be confident ahead of fiery Hearts affair
Everyone is aware that a trip to the capital is rarely straightforward, but Celtic are within their rights to feel confident after a positive start to the campaign.
Ultimately, three points at any cost will suffice. The journey to Tynecastle kicks off a pivotal run of fixtures where Brendan Rodgers will find his squad stretched to the limit; however, the Bhoys have shown this term that they have the collective strength to navigate through the other side.
