Manchester United have finally received approval from the Premier League to complete the signing of goalscoring sensation Chido Obi-Martin, confirms Fabrizio Romano.
Earlier in the summer transfer window, Romano himself broke the news that United agreed a deal to sign Obi-Martin, who had parted ways with rivals Arsenal.
It’s understood that the 16-year-old harboured doubts about his potential pathway to first-team football at the Emirates and so, made the bold decision to continue his career away from North London.
A number of clubs both in England and abroad were keen on securing his services but ultimately, it’s United who succeeded in convincing him to join them.
A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Obi-Martin would be considered the third striker in the pecking order at Old Trafford, only behind Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.
However, before the Red Devils announced Obi-Martin, the club first needed the necessary clearances from the Premier League and Football Association (FA), as is the case for such deals.
Romano has now given an update and indicated that United have received the green light to get a transfer for the teenager over the line.
The Italian journalist wrote on his X account, “EXCLUSIVE: Chido Obi Martin can now be considered new Manchester United player after Premier League approval!”
“PL’s 5-step process has been concluded this morning with positive feedback and final approval.”
“Former Arsenal talent joins Manchester United, medical and signature already done.”

Obi-Martin joined Arsenal at the age of 14 from Danish outfit KB. He plundered an impressive 32 goals in 20 league games for Arsenal’s U18’s last season, including a famous 10 strikes during a match against Liverpool U16s in a 14-3 win in November.
For the U18s, the forward managed four goals against both Crystal Palace and Fulham in March. He also found the back of the net on five occasions vs. West Ham in April and followed that up by bagging seven goals in a nine-goal thrashing of Norwich later that month.
