Fortnite is about to do something rather unusual, but I suppose rather metaverse-y. At the end of this month, Fortnite will put on a Juice WRLD concert event, featuring the rapper who tragically died at the age of 21 back in 2019.
This has caused some…modifications to this concert event, which will be on the same scale that we saw from Travis Scott and Ariana Grande in the past. There is a for-sale V-bucks skin, but players are also getting a free one on November 25, which includes a pickaxe, back bling and a wallpaper, as seen above. You should be able to just log in and get it, days before the November 30 event itself.
There will also soon be a giant Juice WRLD tribute on the map, honoring the rapper. This entire thing is meant to be celebrating Juice WRLD’s life and his past connection to Fortnite, though there are certainly echoes of the performing Tupac hologram in all this, and some may consider it somewhat strange. Honestly, it does feel more like a celebration and tribute, but I get how you could feel a certain way about it as well. Here’s what Fortnite said about Juice WRLD appearing in the game when this was first announced:
“Chapter 2 Remix is ending on a special note — catch the Remix: The Finale live event on November 30 at 2 PM ET! To honor Juice’s legacy and love for Fortnite, all players who log in between 1 AM ET on November 30 and 1 AM ET on December 1 will receive the cel-shaded Slayer Juice WRLD Outfit*. Stay tuned for more details on celebrating Juice WRLD and Remix: The Finale, later this month.”
The countdown to the Fortnite Juice WRLD concert finale has gone live, and will be happening on November 30 at 2 PM ET, the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Leakers say the size of the event if 350 MB, which in the context of Fortnite events, is on the large side.
This should be cool. The Travis Scott concert was one of the most memorable “live” video game events I’ve ever witnessed. I didn’t think the Ariana Grande and Eminem ones were quite as good, but hopefully Juice WRLD’s will be. I would expect this to be well-attended, so make sure you log in right when they say to secure your spot. But we still have over a week until it’s live.
