Last year saw Sam Thompson crowned the King of the Jungle after the TV star held off competition from boxer Tony Bellew and former UKIP and Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage.

But who could be following in his footsteps? Here are the confirmed contestants for I’m a Celebrity 2024.

Reverend Richard Coles first rose to fame as the multi-instrumentalist in The Communards. Since then, he has frequently appeared on various radio and TV programmes, including QI, Would I Lie to You? and Have I Got News for You.
While admitting that I’m A Celebrity is probably the hardest thing he has ever done, Richard reckons being on Strictly in 2017 was good preparation. He explained: “Trying to do a Paso Doble was prey challenging and also deeply humiliating when I attempted it. But this is going to be physically hard.”

Coleen Rooney, the wife of former England footballer Wayne Rooney, will be entering the jungle in 2024.

In 2022, Rooney won the high-profile “Wagatha Christie” libel case filed against her by Rebekah Vardy.

The case gained worldwide attention and was the subject of Channel 4 show Vardy v Rooney: A Courtroom Drama and a documentary titled The Real Wagatha Story.

Speaking about why she finally accepted the offer to take on the challenge after years of it being “a straight no”, she said: “Over the years, there have been different things going on in my life and also, my children have been really young. But they are at an age now where I can go away for this length of time.

“I also feel it’s time to have a challenge for me and do something different. It has taken many, many years but I’m finally doing it. And I have always said if I was going to do one – then it would be this show. I think it will be good for me.”

Speaking about joining the cast, Barry told ITV: “Too right I’m a super fan! [Ant & Dec] went, ‘What is a GK Barry?’, and now we have gone from that to me being on the show.

“It has gone full circle. I can’t wait to meet them in Australia in the jungle. I am also excited to meet everyone on the programme, as the cast is always so amazing.”

“I am really excited,” she said ahead of her debut. “I’m apprehensive about being away from home, being isolated and away from my phone and laptop – but actually, this is also the very thing I am looking forward to.

“I have never done a reality show before and I’ve always said when we talk about these things on Loose Women that this programme would be the one. I like an adventure and it appeals to me.”

Speaking ahead of his debut, he said: “It can be physically arduous, but it’s the psychological part of it that I want to conquer before I get too old. I’m 63 now. I’d like to think I’m a young 63, but that doesn’t mean it’ll make any of these challenges easy. I’d rather do it when I’m 63, than 73, put it that way.”

“I am like Frodo Baggins on an unexpected journey,” she said. “I feel really adventurous this year and the place I am now in, I want to do things that take me out of my comfort zone.

“I have always said I wouldn’t do this show in the past, as there are things that have terrified me. But the person I am now, I want to throw caution to the wind.”

In their first year as coaches, Team Tom and Danny got their first win, as Ava was named champion in the latest season.

Speaking about why he wanted to appear on the show, he said: “I felt very privileged to be asked to do it. This is an amazing opportunity. I had time in the diary, which was insane. I’ll never get the opportunity again.

“I’ve always learned so much more from pushing myself out of my comfort zone. For me it’s learning about myself as well. And showing my little boy that it’s OK to be scared – it’s do it and conquer it.”

Since leaving the show, she has become part of the judging panel on Dancing on Ice, and is often a panellist on Big Brother: Late and Live.

Speaking about why she wanted to take on the challenge, she said: “I have been a fan of I’m a Celebrity for so long. Outside of Strictly and Dancing on Ice, it’s the show I watch religiously, and I can remember last year thinking, ‘OK, this feels right. I am definitely up for it now, I am up for the challenge.”

McCullough is a BBC Radio 1 presenter. He first dipped his toe in the audio waves as a volunteer for Wandsworth Radio before moving to Gaydio, where he presented an afternoon show with Emma Goswell covering current LGBTQ+ issues.

Speaking about joining the line-up, he admitted: “I am terrified of everything and the more I think about being put in the ground with 50 snakes or getting those green fly things that bite poured over me – well, there’s just no point thinking about it, as otherwise I won’t get on the plane!

“I made the mistake of watching episode 1 from last year and I nearly passed out watching it. I had to turn it off. And I hate cockroaches. There was a cockroach in a hostel I stayed in once and I checked out during the middle of the night, as the thought of it – urgh, even talking about it now gives me the chills.”
