Tottenham star James Maddison has taken to social media to poke fun at teammate Ben Davies after their 4-0 Premier League win over Man City on Saturday (November 23).
Maddison, 28, had a birthday to remember, scoring his first Spurs brace as the North London club secured an impressive away victory against the current champions.
Spurs have been a thorn in Pep Guardiola’s side this season, contributing to two of their five consecutive defeats across all competitions.
With Cristian Romero and Mikey van de Ven both out injured, Davies was deployed as a makeshift centre-back, tasked with taming Erling Haaland.
And tame him, he did. The Wales international ended the game having made six clearances, one block, and one recovery.

Surprisingly, Davies didn’t make a single tackle during the game, earning him comparisons to the legendary Paolo Maldini who famously said, “If I have to make a tackle then I have already made a mistake.”
Maddison took to Instagram to send a message to his teammate, accompanied by an edited image of Davies as Maldini after the comparisons.
The win over City has taken Spurs up to sixth, just four points behind Guardiola’s side in second after their dismal run.
Tottenham have been rather chaotic so far this season, winning six, drawing one, and losing five of their opening 12 Premier League games.
