Throughout their careers, despite taking divergent paths, Lindsay Lohan and Lacey Chabert have managed to come back together again. The Mean Girls co-stars are both starring in Netflix Christmas rom-coms this year, so the streamer and Andy Cohen are, of course, milking this moment for all it’s worth. Chabert’s movie features a sly, self-referential scene in which her character sees a clip of Lohan in Falling for Christmas, Lohan’s 2022 Netflix holiday rom-com, and the two made a cute joint appearance on Watch What Happens Live! on Wednesday.
Other than the revelation that they appeared on Late Night With David Letterman together in a 1992 Halloween segment, neither of them offered much in the way of the gossipy fodder usually expected on WWHL. They made up for it in sweetness by rating some of their old red carpet looks in a game called “So Fetch or That’s Retch” and reminiscing together about their early careers. Basically, they finally made “fetch” happen! Chabert talked about the five reasons she loves Christmas and what it was like to work with Susan Lucci as a child; Lohan talked about real and potential reboots, her favorite pasta recipes, and the news that the only project she’s ever had to audition for was The Parent Trap. Neither of them mentioned the Mean Girls themed Black Friday commercial they made last year, but the true highlight of the episode was their performance of a scene from Mean Girls, with Cohen putting on Kim Zolciak’s wig to join them as Regina George:
Maybe I’m a sucker for a hit of sentimental nostalgia, but I can’t get over the fact that these two were first brought together by a holiday (Halloween) on that early Letterman appearance and that they’ve been reunited by another one (Christmas) with their respective wholesome Netflix rom-coms. These also happen to be the two most prominent and eventful holidays depicted in Mean Girls. Just saying!
