TIS 2024 in Seville – Leading the Future of Tourism Innovation


The 5th Tourism Innovation Summit (TIS) wrapped up in Seville, Spain, bringing together 7,903 attendees, 221 exhibiting firms, and top thought leaders in tourism and tech. Held under the theme “Elevating the Travel Industry with Tech,” this year’s TIS showcased transformative innovations set to redefine tourism, with technology at the core. With representation from 41 countries and China as the guest country, the summit solidified TIS’s reputation as a premier platform for global tourism insights and connections.

Keynote speakers Ash Bhardwaj and Shaon Talukder highlighted the industry’s potential for change, focusing on meaningful travel experiences, sustainability, and data-driven transformation. Shaon Talukder, CEO of Geotourist, addressed challenges like data fragmentation in tourism, noting the vital role of connected data and AI in creating seamless and personalized travel experiences. He shared how smarter data use, AI, and augmented reality can help bridge gaps in visitor insights, allowing for real-time adjustments in popular sites and tailored recommendations. Talukder highlighted that effective technology adoption can reduce overcrowding, boost sustainability, and create a more resilient tourism ecosystem.

The 221 exhibiting firms presented cutting-edge solutions for the tourism sector, with AI and Big Data dominating the spotlight. These technologies promise to enhance traveler experiences, optimize planning, and enable data-driven decisions that reduce environmental impact. Sustainability was a central theme throughout TIS 2024, with discussions exploring how responsible tourism, guided by technological innovation, can make travel more ethical and personalised.
