Vyner Street in York cordoned off for police incident


A 50 metre stretch of Vyner Street, at its junction with Haxby Road, not far from York Hospital, is cordoned off and several police vehicles are at the scene.

The incident is understood to have started at around 7.45pm tonight (Saturday, November 24).

By 8pm there were multiple police vehicles at the scene.

Shortly after 11pm tonight, three police vans were still in the street and officers were not allowing residents to pass through the cordon unless they lived in one of the houses within it.

An alley off Vyner Street also appeared to be cordoned off.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “We are dealing with an incident in the Haxby Road area of York which has led to a large police presence in the area. Further updates will be provided in due course.”
