YouTube Music’s answer to Spotify Wrapped is here for 2024

Key Takeaways

  • YouTube Music Recap 2024 is now available for users in a story-like format.
  • The Recap includes top songs, artists, musical moods, a music character, and podcast listening stats.
  • Users can easily share their Recap on social media and save it as a playlist for later listening.

Every year, streaming services like Spotify and YouTube Music roll out personalized year-in-review features, letting users revisit what they listened to throughout the year. While Spotify hasn’t released its Wrapped for 2024 yet, YouTube Music has started widely rolling out its Recap 2024 for users.

How to access your YouTube Music Recap

Rediscover your top songs again

Available on both Android and iOS, the 2024 Recap banner in YouTube Music is starting to appear for a lot of users just above the newly-rolled out Speed Dial section. Alternatively, users can access Recap by tapping their profile icon in the top right and selecting the Your Recap button or by visiting yt.be/music/recap.

Tapping the banner opens the 2024 Recap section, where a Get Your Recap button starts the experience. The app then takes you on a nostalgia trip, showing the total minutes you listened to music on YouTube Music, the number of tracks played, your top track, top artists, and even your musical moods in a story-like format.

YouTube Music Recap 2024 is rolling out ahead of schedule

The app automatically plays your top track when you hit Recap. But, this year, YouTube Music has introduced some fun new features, including a Music Character that represents your listening habits and music taste. For instance, my profile revealed I was “30% Love and 25% Dramatic.”

For the first time, the Recap also includes podcast statistics, pulling data from both video podcasts on YouTube and audio-only podcasts in YouTube Music. Another fun addition this time is that you can also connect Recap to Google Photos, which then creates a photo album matching your favorite tracks with your pictures.

To share your YouTube Recap on social media, you can directly select the Share button in the app or download the image to your photo library. You can also save your 2024 Recap as a playlist for easy access later.

The feature began appearing for some users last week, but it’s now rolling out widely to all YouTube Music users. It’s earlier than in past years, but the sooner, the better, right? To be eligible for Recap 2024, you need at least 10 hours of listening time for the year.
